On Monday, 13th it was finally there : Marktrock in Leuven!
This was a day I really looked forward to. To perform there at 10pm
with my beautiful band was like a dream come true... .
Our rehearsals were getting better every time and we were sounding
and looking tight!
We were ready.
Then we got on that stage...
My in-ear monitoring was giving me nothing, so I thought never mind,
there's always the normal monitor (on the floor) so no panic.
My floor monitor was giving me...nothing and still I thought, never
mind, they'll fix it...
NOT!!
So, imagine this : there was this huge crowd. I was seriously and pleasantly
surprised when I saw all those people and I wanted to give the best show
ever :).
None of the entire band heard themselves...needless to say I was terribly
disappointed and every minute I got more and more angry. I still don't
know why I didn't just up and leave... .
After the show I was told about 200 times how good it sounded for the
crowd, so I guess that's most important anyway.
I also heard that the so-called monitor mixer was actually a lightguy!!
What was he doing behind that mixing desk in the first place?! And other
bands had the same problems.
Oh well - this won't be happening again. This was a very valuable lesson
which I can use to my advantage.
Just wanted to get it off my chest.
So there!
It was lovely to see some loyal fans like Benoit (all the way from Paris!)
and David.
I did have a good time eventually and didn't go home untill 3am! Way
past my bedtime!! There was a lovely after party and some of my oldest
friends were there : Marie (from UK) of course, Rebecca and Pepen (no idea
how to spell that!), Marina and Dennis... . They lifted me right up!
During the last few weeks I got a lot of media-attention;
many interviews in many newspapers and magazines. Because it
had been such a long time since I was part of 'the circus',
I'd forgotten that there are also tabloids that are just out to be
nasty! I'm very grateful that so far there's onlybeen one.but it's
a pain in the ass. They claim that I told them that I was 'the brain'
behind all the past projects : Praga Khan, Lords of Acid, Milk Inc.
etcetera, while all I told them is the truth ;I always co-wrote and / or
co-produced. I never claim to be more than I am.
Just wanted to get that off my chest as well. So there!
The funny thing is that lately I'm being recognised in my home town.
People stare and in the beginning I didn't even see! It was Danny who pointed
it out |

to me. TMF (a music channel on tv) had started to play the "Sugarcane"
videoclip but I had no idea. The more my face got into the papers and on
tv, the "louder" people want to chat with me in the street! This never
happened to me in Belgium before and I must say that it feels very strange
in a very nice way :).
Of course my head stays tightly on my shoulders - one never knows how
long these things last, right?
Yesterday I did an interview for "Jim TV" and that was great fun! Tiany
(the reporter) is a real sweet girl and we ended up talking for almost
an hour or so... .
So now it's time to start preparing for September the 8th. We're performing
in Wetteren. It's going to be fantastic!
Looking forward to it.
Right now I'm enjoying the sunshine. We don't get so much of it here,
so you won't catch me in the studio on a day like this,no sirree...my ass
is parked in a lazy chair out in the garden. I got some slow groovy tunes
playing in the background while sipping a cool glass of something, reading
a book or just enjoying the surroundings...aaaaahhhh, summer!
On a day like today I feel...lucky.
Just wanted to get this off my chest.
So there!
Big kisses.
ps : In the dressing room I opened my lyrics book and to my surprise
I saw a beautiful note from my loverman, wishing me good luck and saying
how much he loves me. It brought a tear to my eye... . Once again I realised
how lucky I am to share my life with Danny.
