Dear Diary,
August 2006

Again I must apologize. I know: I do it every time but I'm just so busy. But anyway I'm here now... .
As some of you know, Danny and I are practically roaming the planet to find a nice place to settle down and make music :)

We went to Spain first in search of our destiny. Looked around a little and decided it wasn't for us. True, we only checked the Costa del Sol and what we saw there wasn't pretty; urbanisations were planted everywhere. First they started to build them on the coast line. When there was no more space there they started to move inland. And real estate agents flocking together - all of them wearing black pinstripe suits with or without high heels. Mainly British. They seem to have taken over the costa - it was hard to find any real Spanish people. Everybody there seemed to be in a rat race : the stress factor was too high!
The mountains were stunningly beautiful but I didn't want to live so secluded.
Dunno... just didn't feel it... .

Next we decided to go to Israel. We thought of living there. Actually started the whole paper process: you know, stand in line for 3 hours only to be told you're in the wrong line and come back some other day. After a couple of times this to me was a sign to not stay in the country!
Anyway, we thought moving to the North was a good idea and went looking for a place there. It is beautiful! But... we couldn't find a house! Bummer... .
Again a sign? I felt it was... .
By now another old idea came up. We had talked about it quite a while ago, but then it slipped our minds somehow.
South Africa!!! We started to meet South Africans, saw many programs related to it on tv, etc. ... So we got on the Internet and looked for relocators. Found one: talked to a Belgian guy who moved there and he said it's paradise.
But...isn't there a lot of violent crime over there? Do we want to live in constant fear of being mugged, or worse?
Almost everyone we know in Israel said it's too dangerous to go there!
REALLY??!!
What are those window-rattling bangs I keep hearing day and night? Oh yeah, there's a war going on just 15 km from here! We're in the South, close to the Gaza strip.
Well that puts things in perspective, wouldn't you think?
Not finding a house in the north was a very lucky thing for us... .

I wanted to express how I feel about the situation here and I've deleted everything so far. I can't do it in just 2 lines...let's just say that my heart goes out to everyone suffering in this mess. I refuse to take sides. No one knows who started what anyway and in which century.
I think it's safe to say that the saying is true here : "violence only begets violence" and it ain't gettin' us nowhere.
Isn't it weird though how the whole world is being sucked into the big black hole of fear?

To end this on a friendlier note: I caught these 2 pigeons kissing and couldn't help but think let's be more like them lol!

Moving on...

So, as soon as we can we will go to Belgium for a short stay - we need to sort out some things there. We're thinking of going to Antwerp for a month or so.
I'll get together with my friend Abi to work on a comic musical act together. We'll see how that goes. She's very talented! Funny as hell! I told you about her last entry.

I'll be visiting friends and I'm looking forward to that a lot! I miss them so much... .
Who knows what might happen... maybe I'll hook up with someone to work in a studio and create a killer track or something... .
I want to get back on track eventually...what can I say? Singing and performing still are my great passions.
I thought I was over it, but there it is, seeping back in to my head :).
Now I watch Rockstar: Supernova and I have a few favorites. I'm a bit envious as well, I must admit :)

Well, as soon as we finally settle down I might want to look for a band and maybe try something different for me... don't know what yet. We have a few great songs just lying here but they didn't seem to fit anything we did before, so we're going to try a new direction with them.
My thing with music is that I love most styles, be it rock, techno, disco, soul, metal, whatever...I can't decide what I want to make, so I do a bit of all of them ;)
Usually I just follow the grooves and melodies that my heart dictate. Whatever needs to be expressed will come out.
Sometimes we rework songs completely after they sit around for a couple of years. It's like good wine: it tastes alright from the beginning, but leave it alone and the flavors just keep getting richer and better!

Our sweet son Indigo is doing great and we love him to bits! Here is a picture of him hanging out in the mud :
I'll get back to you in Belgium. We hope to leave Israel by next week or so... .
Big kisses to my loyal fans, Nikkiex
